Urgence Marine announces a financial partnership with Snowdon Partners

Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton is pleased to have advised Urgence Marine Environnement Inc. on its financial partnership with Snowdon Partners.

Founded in 1970, Montréal-based Urgence Marine Environnement Inc. (“UME”) has established itself as the leading provider of marine and environmental services across the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway (“GLS”).

Via its highly strategic locations at the Port of Montreal and Port of Québec, the company provides mission-critical services to a broad range of vessels traveling across the GLS, from bulk carriers, cargo ships and tankers, to cruise ships and naval vessels. These services include waste management, specialized cleaning, emergency spill response, mooring and marine equipment rental.

UME’s deep expertise and uncompromising focus on quality have allowed it to profitably grow and materially scale its operations over the last decade, currently serving over 150 customers across Québec.

The financial partnership with Snowdon Partners will provide UME with the additional capacity to strengthen its leadership position and turbocharge its growth across North America.

“Snowdon is thrilled to be partnering with CEO Jonathan Berthiaume, as well as the high-caliber team he has assembled over time, to write the next chapter of growth for the business. Our objective is to accelerate Urgence Marine’s growth by fueling investments in talent and systems, as well as expanding the company’s lines of business and physical presence to better serve its industrial customers” stated Snowdon Partners.

“This is an exciting new chapter for Urgence Marine,” said Jonathan Berthiaume. “The Snowdon team have been a pleasure to work with throughout the process, demonstrating their exceptional value as financial partners. We are confident that our collaboration will also create exceptional value for our customers, as we strengthen our position and explore promising new markets.”

“The Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton team was very supportive throughout the entire process,” added Jonathan Berthiaume. “It was a demanding process that required a lot of effort across the board, and the team’s professionalism and commitment contributed tremendously to the success of the transaction. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any entrepreneur looking to sell their business.”

Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton acted as exclusive financial advisor to Urgence Marine Environnement.

The deal team for this transaction was Martin Deschênes, Nicholas Capuano and Tom Chouraqui.
