Our firm advises WeCook on a growth financing transaction

Our firm advises WeCook on a growth financing transaction led by Desjardins Capital.

Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s Corporate Finance team is pleased to announce the successful closing of WeCook’s capital raise.

WeCook, Quebec’s leader in fresh, ready-to-eat, home-delivered meals, has closed a financing round to accelerate its nation-wide growth, having delivered +420% run-rate sales growth in the last year. The financing round included numerous returning investors, including lead investor Desjardins Capital, and also included debt facilities provided by National Bank’s Technology and Innovation Group.

Founded in 2013, Montreal-based WeCook delivers meals to approximately 20,000 customers through its online sales platform and prepares nearly 2.5 million meals a year. Since its founding, the company has focused on both industry-leading product quality as well as its highly analytical and disciplined digital marketing strategy. For over 8 years, WeCook’s focus on the prepared meal space has allowed it to develop a leading position in this high growth segment as well as develop a deep and fundamental understanding of its customers. With +65,000 Facebook followers and 35,000 Instagram followers, the company has developed a proprietary social media strategy that has allowed it to reach its rapidly growing audience in a highly impactful and efficient manner.

WeCook secures growth capital to support its ongoing nation-wide expansion.

“We turned to Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton’s Corporate Finance team in 2020 at a time when events unfolding in the market introduced both uncertainty and opportunity to our existing strategy,” states Etienne Plourde, CEO and Founder WeCook.

“The Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton team were able to put together and execute a financing strategy specifically tailored to our evolving needs, acting as a direct and seamless extension of our team, and providing critical assistance throughout the process. We would not hesitate to work with them on future transactions.”
